Optimising Account Balance View
UX/UI Design
Lloyds Bank
Feb 2021
Challenge
I set myself a quick task to re-design an existing Lloyds Bank mobile banking app.
Solution
I re-designed the account balance screen and added quick access to critical card management from individual account page level. Additionally I also designed a categorised account balance feature to help tracking monthly spending.
Assumptions 1
The account balance view seems to be cramped with ads. They can frustrate the users, adding too much information to a clear and simple interface.
Restructuring the main content with essentials will make the details of account balance easily accessible.
Assumptions 2
Lloyds introduced new “card freeze” function. However, at the moment it is only accessible within the app’s further settings.
Critical card management should be easy and straightforward to find in urgent cases.
The validation of assumptions
A quick read of the user reviews confirms that other users are also frustrated with the ads breaking up their accounts balance view.
Furthermore, the rapidly growing competition of modern mobile banking apps brings an opportunity for additional flexible account view options, such as categorisation of spending and monthly view summary.
Ideation
Idea 1: Account Balance View & Quick access to critical card management.
Idea 2: Spending View & Categorisation
